YourWelcome is a powerful tool for collecting contact details and guest data. When handling sensitive information like this, it’s important to let your guests know what happens to their data.

New privacy laws are popping up all over the place with examples being:

USA – CCPA

Europe – GDPR

Canada – Digital Charter Implementation Act

Brazil – LGPD

Australia – 2018 Privacy Amendment

Japan – 2017 Act on Protection of Personal Information

China – PDPL

With initiatives in India, South Africa, New Zealand, Chile and Switzerland too, you can see there is a need for protecting guest data. Almost all of these policies require you to inform your guests of what data you store about them, for what purpose, and how long it will be stored for.

Privacy Compliance

YourWelcome has introduced tools on the platform to help you become compliant; enabling you to succinctly explain:

  • What data you’re capturing.
  • Why this is required.
  • How it is recorded.
  • The length of time this data will be stored for.
  • Who your Data Protection Officer (DPO) is.

This data is displayed at the point of data collection so whether you’re asking for information using the pre-arrival survey tool or asking via a YourWelcome Tablet’s check-in feature, your guests can read and learn why you need to store their personal data. This keeps you inline with the requirements of the various privacy laws but also ensures your guests are happy sharing their personal information.
